Garage security: When to reset your garage door opener code

Security is always top of mind at Chamberlain. Since 2011, our patented Security+ 2.0 technology has meant our garage door remotes communicate on multiple frequencies, using a unique code every time the button is pressed. With each click, the strongest frequency is selected from 100 billion encrypted rolling codes, virtually eliminating interference from other devices.

In general, it’s best practice to change your garage door opener code every so often to ensure only the people who are meant to be coming and going can access your home.

There are a couple of other circumstances where you might need to reset your code:

If you know your remote has been stolen
Sometimes thieves manage to take advantage of an enticing situation and make off with your handbag, car or even just your keys. If the worst does happen, it’s important to reset your garage door opener code to ensure that intruders can’t gain access to your home.

If you think you’ve lost your remote
If you’ve lost your remote or misplaced your remote but think it might turn up, it’s a good idea to reset your code just to be on the safe side.

We encourage you to have a secure, safe and high quality garage door opener installed and only use genuine accessories, to ensure the safety and security of your home and loved ones.
